COVID-19

IIC COVID-19 Update 16 September 2020

Gatherings update.

We are pleased to announce that as of Sunday 13th September 2020, we are starting physical gatherings. We are doing this for an 11 am service only.

The building has been set out in a way to comply with current covid-19 guidelines for places of worship. Subsequently we have a restricted amount of seating. This has meant that we have come to the decision that gatherings will be based on your post code.

For example, the first gathering will be IP1 and other designated postcodes, the following week it will be IP2 and so on. This will give you the opportunity to attend a gathering.

How do I sign up to attend a gathering?

For the purposes of track and trace we are having to keep a record of everyone who attends our gatherings. Therefore, you will receive an email at least a week in advance inviting you to your designated IP gathering. Please ensure you check your spam/ Junk box for this email.

You will need to click either accept or decline on the email itself. If you click accept this will then direct, you to fill out a form asking for required information to attend the gathering. There is a space to indicate if you are bringing a child or young person with you. Please ensure you give both names and ages of the child/ young person, as this will aide our planning.

You will need to ensure that each individual adult attending has completed the form with their specific information, to allow for seat allocation and tracing purposes.

Once the forms have been completed, please tick the box accepting the privacy policy and then click proceed.

Once registration has been accepted you will receive a confirmation email which will include important information that you will need to be aware to help you prepare for attending the gathering.

Please note that registration closes on the Wednesday of the week of your gathering at 11pm.

If you do not register we cannot guarantee that you will be able to attend the service.

Please do not come to a gathering if you have symptoms of Covid-19 as you will not be allowed entry to the gathering, even if you have booked as this will put the safety and health of others at risk.

What can I expect on the day?

Throughout the day there will be stewards serving, who will be giving you information and instructions. Please appreciate this is all new to all of us and be patient with them and others serving during the service, as we navigate this new way of gathering.

Please ensure you arrive early to the church building as everybody attending the gathering will need to be checked in. We will take your temperature to ensure that you are safe to enter. You will then need to sanitise your hands using our contactless dispensers. A steward will then direct you to your allocated seat, if attending with a child between the ages of 5-11 you will need to go to your allocated seat and direct your child to the children’s area. Where they will be met by a member of the children’s team.

We would like to remind you that in accordance with government guidelines the congregation are not permitted to sing during the gathering. However, we encourage you to express your worship through clapping and raising of hands whilst still complying with social distancing.

Please be aware that unless there is a medical reason for you not to wear a mask/ face covering, you will be required to wear one at all times. In view of this our services will be reduced in length and will still be streamed online for those unable to attend physically.

If for any reason you need to leave the building, you will need to follow the one-way system for exciting and entering the building. If you are re-entering the building, you will be required to sanitise your hands. At the end of the service you will be given instructions on how to leave the building in a safe and calm manner. Please do not congregate at the exit.

We will be sharing communion together for both services. If you would like to take part in this with us please prepare by gathering the emblems before the service so you can do this within your household. You will need:

IIC COVID-19 Update 18 March 2020

Please read carefully the following important updates in response to the COVID-19 situation.
As you are already aware this is a very dynamic and fluid situation and there is a lot of information to pass on so please bear with us.

We have recently received the following directives from Elim HQ detailed below:

The National Leadership Team are issuing the following advice in response to the spread of COVID-19 to bring clear and united response to the challenge of maintaining our ministry, worship and witness during this unprecedented national crisis.

In so doing, we wish to affirm our primary calling to be ministers of Christ and ambassadors of faith and hope amid anxiety and fear.

We believe for the whole Christian community this is a ‘defining moment’ where it is vital that we are rooted in the life giving gospel, power and love of Jesus for all, and ready to reach out in what may be fresh and unfamiliar ways to all members of our community.”

CHURCH SERVICES AND GATHERINGS

As a result of the latest Government and Public Health advice regarding the COVID-19 crisis on Monday 16 March 2020, we are taking the decision to suspend all Elim Church services from and including this Sunday, 22 March until further notice.

We do not take this decision lightly but do so believing we have a public duty to act responsibly in terms of the duty of care to all members of the community.

The latest advice includes a Government ban on large gatherings and a call for “social distancing”.
Answering questions in the House on Monday evening, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “with the deepest regret and the heaviest of hearts we do include faith groups within the advice”.

We want to be sure that no one is feeling frightened, lonely or in need at this time. Please let us know if the COVID-19 situation is affecting you in any of these ways or if you would just like someone to pray with you.

We are particularly concerned about vulnerable people (including those over 70, pregnant or have underlying health conditions), people living alone and lone parents with young children.

Please let us know your situation and someone from the Care Team will be in contact with you. You can do this by:

  • Simply completing the online form here – iic.io/covidhelp

Our desire is to make this available to members of the community outside of IIC, but please bear with us as we establish the team to facilitate this. We will send out further information related to this in the future.

A Reminder

This briefing and the COVID-19 situation might seem overwhelming and is certainly causing many to adapt from their normal routines. However, we have ONE unchanging truth we can all fall back on, which is God Himself and the Word He has given us.

Rest assured all the decisions we have made are designed to keep you safe, the wider community safe and to enable the continued functioning of the church. We are following government guidelines and directives from Elim HQ in doing this.

Our aim is to keep you informed as developments arise, and as per previous briefings our intention is to use technology to maintain engagement with and between members of the church.

Finally, a reminder of some scriptures (which we will leave you to lookup) which reflect on God’s authority over all that is happening in the world and protection He has over us.

  • Psalm 91 Verse 2 - This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. (NLT)
  • Psalm 121 Verses 7-8 - The Lord keeps you from all harm, and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. (NLT)

IIC COVID-19 Briefing 17 March

As you are aware, the world is currently experiencing a coronavirus pandemic. Due to the fast transition of the virus it is an extremely dynamic and fluid situation, and as a church we are monitoring the Government websites.

The advice is to follow Government recommendations and continue life as normal, unless you show symptoms of the virus.

  • As we keep up to date with government advice and directives in relation to large gatherings, we will be adapting how we meet, when we meet, and what restrictions we may need to enforce.

We intend to use technology to maintain fellowship

  • We have a vast array of technological tools available to us which will enable us to continue gathering and fellowship with each other virtually, and enable varying degrees of interaction.
  • Livestreaming, conference calling, social media, WhatsApp to name a few.

We will update you as the situation changes

  • As you are aware from the media the COVID-19 situation is dynamic and quite fluid. As new advice or directives are published, IIC will want to respond to these and when required make required adjustments and changes.
  • Any adjustments and changes will be communicated to everyone at IIC as soon as practically possible, so everyone has the opportunity to adapt.
  • This reinforces the importance what IIC have your most up to date and accurate contact details.
